Dear JF Kennedy Families-
Bienvenido! Welcome to our 2015-16 school year! On behalf of the Kennedy staff, we hope you had a great summer together as a family, and are as anxious as we are to get our new school year underway.
Throughout the summer months we have had several different team and School Improvement Planning (SIP) meetings, involving several individual staff members, teams, and parents. Our ideas, hopes, and plans for the coming year are exciting and we believe will be great for our students and we hope for you as family too. To help prepare and guide you, we have put together this handbook outlining many important details specific to Kennedy Elementary. We ask that you take some time to read it thoroughly, and keep it on hand throughout the year as a reference. If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to call or email.
One of our top priorities as a school, is to build positive and effective means of support and two-way communication between home and school. This can often be best facilitated by regular, daily conversations with your child about what s/he accomplished in school, about that which s/he feels good, and the relationships s/he is forming with both students as well as staff members. Also be in contact with your child’s teachers/team about any questions or concerns. Communication between home and school is essential to your child receiving clear and consistent messages and expectations. Watch for classroom and school newsletters throughout the school year to keep you updated on important information and upcoming school events.
We look forward to a fantastic 2015-16 school year at John F. Kennedy Elementary School!
