Principal's Corner
Dear Kennedy Community,
Welcome to John F. Kennedy Elementary School, Home of the Cougars! Another successful year has come and gone. We are proud of all of our accomplishments and can’t wait to share all of our successes with you in future meetings this fall. If you are returning to the community, “Welcome Back”! If you are a new family, “Welcome Aboard”! We are so glad you have decided to join us in our journey for the next school year. We look forward to developing partnerships with you throughout the year.
Kennedy Elementary serves students in 4K through 5th grade. We are considered a large elementary school in MMSD with approximately 550 scholars. We pride ourselves on building a connected community and meaningful relationships with our students and families. Our dedicated staff strive to create equitable learning environments that are student-centered, safe, culturally responsive, rigorous, differentiated and supportive of learning. We welcome parents as partners in their child’s education to assist with excelling student leadership skills, academics, social/emotional skills, athletics, and the arts. Together we will build confident scholars with promising futures.
We are eagerly gearing up for the next school year and preparing to implement new materials with students this fall including Amplify, our next generations standards-based science curriculum (NGSS) and EL Education. EL Education was written for teachers by teachers. It was created to support students to build skills and content knowledge, to meet college-and career-ready standards to become more confident and collaborative learners. It was also created to help teachers develop stronger practice. The adoption of the two new curricula reemphasize MMSD’s commitment to providing equitable, just, and sustainable learning environments where teachers can reach their highest potential and students can successfully achieve projected goals. We can’t wait to highlight our progress with you in our monthly newsletter, The Kennedy Connection.
Please feel free to reach out if you would like to share appreciations, questions, suggestions or concerns in the future. We look forward to partnering with you during the upcoming school year. Once again, on behalf of the Kennedy Elementary Staff, welcome to the JFK Cougar School Family!
Sincerely,
Dr. Rachellee Bly, Principal
